BOS Natixis IM – Health is the new wealth

Health is the new wealth

« Healthy mind in Healthy body » , the heart of the investment strategy of the newly launched Wellness Thematics AM fund.

With a 10-year gap between the average life expectancy and the so-called « healthy life expectancy » as defined by the WHO, more individuals are shifting their habits toward a healthier lifestyle, supported by increasing investments in disease prevention by governments to lower the cost burden of unhealthy populations. Knowing that around 2/3 of the diseases that we may develop during our lives will be due to our lifestyles, it is crucial to adopt healthier habits to prevent and avoid the onset of these ailments. While taking care of our physical health is already a widespread habit, the pandemic has also highlighted  the importance of taking care of our mental health. For many, this has meant more physical activity, a better diet, the prioritization of relaxation, a greater appreciation of our social interactions, as well as getting outdoors to enjoy the fresh air. Access to healthier lifestyles has been highly accessible, inexpensive and democratic; this is not the preserve of the rich, but is for everyone. Finally, it should not be forgotten that technological innovations in both medical and consumer space have played a role in the development of this market. A focus on the early detection of illnesses and disease which remains the most effective way to prevent more severe long-term health problems. The Thematics Wellness strategy focuses on global companies, at any stage of development, in any sector,  that provide products and services that help people to maintain and improve their physical and mental health. With a 10% to 15% long-term secular growth outlook, the Fund is based on a high conviction management approach, driven by the underlying structural Wellness trends that also respond to objective n°3 of the UN SDGs. The Fund is an SFDR Article 9 product and integrates ESG considerations into its investment process.
